Regular Season Round 23: Santos - Libertadores 80-81

A very interesting game took place in San Luis Potosi. It ended with only one-point home defeat of 6th ranked Santos (9-13) to sixth ranked Libertadores (8-13) 81-80 in the fight for the sixth place. Libertadores players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. American players dominated the game. The best player for the winners was power forward Gerard DeVaughn (206-88, college: Stillman) who had a double-double by scoring 20 points and 11 rebounds. Forward Reggie Larry (198-86, college: Boise St., agency: Pro Sports) chipped in 17 points and 6 rebounds. DeVaughn is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Forward Lyonell Gaines (198-93, college: Morehead St.) produced a double-double by scoring 29 points and 10 rebounds and point guard Jaron Martin (178-94, college: Cal-Irvine, agency: Duran International) added 13 points and 8 assists respectively for the hosts. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Libertadores maintains sixth place with 8-13 record which they share with defeated Santos. Santos at the other side keep the sixth position with 13 games lost. Libertadores' next round opponent will be league's leader Mineros and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
