No shocking result in a game when sixth ranked Adelaide 36ers (7-8) beat bottom-ranked Cairns Taipans (1-13) in Findon 87-82 on Saturday. Cairns Taipans were plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. Quite impressive performance for the former international power forward Daniel Johnson (212-88, college: Pepperdine) who helped to win the game recording 22 points and 5 rebounds. American forward Jacob Wiley (203-94, college: E.Washington) contributed with 10 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Adelaide 36ers' coach Joey Wright allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. The former international power forward Nathan Jawai (209-86, college: Midland CC) replied with 18 points and 9 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) and American guard Melo Trimble (190-95, college: Maryland) added 18 points and 7 assists in the effort for Cairns Taipans. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Adelaide 36ers moved-up to fifth place. Cairns Taipans lost eleventh consecutive game. They stay at the bottom position with 13 games lost. Adelaide 36ers will face New Zealand Breakers (#7) in Auckland in the next round. Cairns Taipans will play at home against the league's second-placed Perth Wildcats and hope to win that game.
