Regular Season Round 16: Stade Rochelais - Lourdes 87-84

The game between closely ranked teams ended with eleventh ranked La Rochelle's (8-8) road victory over 12th ranked Lourdes-Tarbes (4-10) 87-84 on Saturday. La Rochelle shot the lights out from three sinking 15 long-distance shots on high 53.6 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of naturalized Algerian guard Faycal Sahraoui (186-79) who helped to win the game recording 18 points and 7 rebounds and Guillaume Costentin (196-82) who added 20 points and 4 assists during the contest. At the losing side center Alexis Thomas (196-95) responded with 22 points and 9 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) and point guard Kevin Thalien (190-92) scored 18 points and 9 assists (made all of his seven free throws). Four La Rochelle and five Lourdes-Tarbes players scored in double figures. La Rochelle moved-up to eighth place in Group B, which they share with Union Tours. Loser Lourdes-Tarbes keeps the twelfth position with ten games lost. La Rochelle will face higher ranked Vitre (#7) at home in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Lourdes-Tarbes will play against Lorient (#3) and hope to win that game.
