Regular Season Round 24: Shandong - Henan 77-79

The most exciting game of round 24 in the WCBA took place in Penglai. This derby game ended with only two-point home defeat of 7th ranked Sports Lottery (15-9) to eighth ranked Henan Phoenix (14-10) 79-77 on Saturday evening. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Sports Lottery. Henan Phoenix forced 24 Sports Lottery turnovers. Strangely Sports Lottery outrebounded Henan Phoenix 43-31 including 16 on the offensive glass. The best player for the winners was American center Stefanie Dolson (196-92, college: Connecticut) who had a double-double by scoring 26 points, 15 rebounds and 7 assists. Forward Jie Sun (187-91) chipped in 18 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals. At the other side the best for losing team was international guard Siyu Wang (175-95) who recorded 21 points, 8 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals and the former international power forward Hengyu Yang (194-95) added 15 points and 17 rebounds respectively. Sports Lottery's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Newly promoted Henan Phoenix maintains eighth position with 14-10 record. Sports Lottery at the other side keeps the seventh place with nine games lost. Henan Phoenix are looking forward to face Golden Bulls (#14) in Yiwu in the next round where they are favorite. Sports Lottery will play at home against the league's leader Vermilion Birds (#1) where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
