Leading Perth Wildcats (11-6) recorded its sixth loss in Gwynneville. Visitors were defeated by seventh ranked Illawarra Hawks (7-9) 81-77. Perth Wildcats were ahead by 2 points after three quarters before a 15-9 charge of Illawarra Hawks, which allowed them to win the game. The former international center David Andersen (213-80) scored 21 points to lead the charge for the winners and the former international swingman Todd Blanchfield (200-91) chipped in 19 points during the contest. At the losing side American guard Bryce Cotton (185-92, college: Providence, agency: Pensack Sports) responded with 21 points and the former international center Tom Jervis (211-87, college: Troy) scored 12 points and 8 rebounds. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Illawarra Hawks have a solid four-game winning streak. They moved-up to sixth place. Perth Wildcats at the other side dropped to the second position with six games lost. Illawarra Hawks will play against higher ranked Bullets (#4) in Brisbane in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Perth Wildcats will play on the road against Cairns Taipans and hope to get back on the winning track.
