Regular Season Round 26: Ryukyu GK - Hitachi SR 71-59

An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Okinawa. First ranked Ryukyu GK faced 4th ranked Hitachi Sunrockers. Host Ryukyu GK (20-6) defeated guests from Tokyo (12-14) 71-59. It ended at the same time the seven-game winning streak of Hitachi Sunrockers. Forward Naoki Tashiro (188-93) notched 14 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists to lead the effort and American forward Jeff Ayres (206-87, college: Arizona St.) supported him with 10 points and 9 rebounds. Five Ryukyu GK players scored in double figures. Even a double-double of 18 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists by American Ryan Kelly (211-91, college: Duke) did not help to save the game for Hitachi Sunrockers. Canadian center Robert Sacre (213-89, college: Gonzaga) added 18 points and 13 rebounds for the guests. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Ryukyu GK maintains first position with 20-6 record. Hitachi Sunrockers at the other side keep the fourth place with 14 games lost. Ryukyu GK's next round opponent will be Osaka Evessa (#4) on the road. Hitachi Sunrockers' supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Tokyo to the arena Toyota Alvark.
