The biggest surprise of round 13 in Liga Endesa was guest Baskonia's (10-3) easy road victory over Unicaja Malaga (#4) 81-64 on Sunday evening. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Unicaja Malaga. It was a key game for the top position in the league. The game was mostly controlled by Baskonia. Unicaja Malaga managed to win fourth quarter 18-12. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. German center Johannes Voigtmann (211-92) fired 11 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists for the winners. Brazilian-Italian point guard Marcelinho Huertas (191-83) chipped in 9 points and 6 assists. American point guard Brian Roberts (187-85, college: Dayton) produced 18 points and Georgian center Giorgi Shermadini (217-89) added 8 points and 8 rebounds respectively for lost side. Unicaja Malaga's coach rotated eleven players seeing no chance for a win. Baskonia keeps a position of league leader, which they share with Real Madrid and FC Barcelona. Unicaja Malaga at the other side keeps the fourth place with four games lost. Baskonia is looking forward to face Real Madrid (#3) at home in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Unicaja Malaga will play against Gipuzkoa in San Sebastian and is hoping to prove to their supporters that the loss was just an accident.
