Regular Season Round 11: Trefl - TBV Start 77-75

Bottom-ranked Trefl managed to get a second victory, breaking the series of six consecutive losses. This time they edged tenth-ranked Start in Sopot 77-75. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Start. The former international power forward Pawel Leonczyk (203-86) orchestrated the victory by scoring 14 points and 8 rebounds. American guard Ian Baker (185-93, college: N.Mexico St.) contributed with 13 points and 6 assists for the winners. Baker is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. American guard Joe Thomasson (193-93, college: Wright St., agency: Two Points) answered with 23 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists and the other American import forward Devonte Upson (206-93, college: SE Louisiana) added 10 points in the effort for Start. Four Start players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Trefl (2-9) moved-up to fourteenth place, which they share with AZS Koszalin and Miasto Szkla. Start at the other side keeps the tenth position with seven games lost. They share it with GTK Gliwice and Rosa. Trefl will play against higher ranked BM Slam Stal (#5) in Ostrow Wlkp. in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Start will play at home against Twarde Pierniki (#3) and will have a slim chance for a victory.
