There was no surprise in Madrid where 18th ranked Movil Estudiantes (3-9) was defeated by seventh ranked Valencia Basket (8-5) 83-79 on Sunday. Movil Estudiantes was trailing by 4 points at halftime but managed to get 1-point lead after three quarters before a 26-21 charge of Valencia Basket, which allowed them to win the game. The former international swingman Fernando San-Emeterio (199-84) fired 10 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. American-Georgian Will Thomas (203-86, agency: Two Points) chipped in 10 points and 6 rebounds. Five Valencia Basket players scored in double figures. International guard Dario Brizuela (196-94) produced 31 points and 5 assists (made all of his eight free throws) and American-Azerbaijani forward Niklas Caner-Medley (203-83, college: Maryland, agency: BeoBasket) added 10 points and 13 rebounds respectively for lost side. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. Valencia Basket moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Manresa. Loser Movil Estudiantes stay at the bottom position with nine games lost. Valencia Basket will face Zaragoza (#7) at home in the next round. Movil Estudiantes will play against Andorra (#12) and hope to win that game.
