Very important is a road loss of first ranked Niigata Albirex (16-10) against fourth ranked Aishin Sea Horses (13-13) on Sunday night. Visiting Niigata Albirex was defeated by Aishin Sea Horses in Kariya 86-73. Aishin Sea Horses made 17-of-21 free shots (81.0 percent) during the game. Aishin Sea Horses had a 14-3 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. American forward Kennedy Meeks (208-95, college: N.Carolina) had a double-double by scoring 18 points, 21 rebounds and 6 assists to lead the charge for the winners and the former international swingman Kosuke Kanamaru (193-89) chipped in 34 points (!!!) (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line) during the contest. Aishin Sea Horses' coach Kimikazu Suzuki used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American Davante Gardner (203-91, college: Marquette) responded with 26 points and 8 rebounds and the former international guard Kei Igarashi (180-80) scored 21 points, 5 rebounds and 9 assists. Aishin Sea Horses maintains fourth position with 13-13 record. Loser Niigata Albirex still keeps top place with ten games lost. Aishin Sea Horses will meet league's second-placed Toyama Grouses on the road in the next round and it may be the game of the week. Niigata Albirex will play against Yokohama BC and hope to secure a win.
