No shocking result in a game when second ranked Salerno (11-2) smashed at home bottom-ranked Battipaglia (0-13) 117-63 on Sunday. Salerno dominated down low during the game scoring 72 of its points in the paint compared to Battipaglia's 26 and made 18-of-21 free shots (85.7 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Battipaglia 49-16 including a 14-2 advantage in offensive rebounds. Salerno looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists comparing to just 4 passes made by Battipaglia's players. Forward Lorenzo Tortu (200-92) fired a double-double by scoring 29 points, 17 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Point guard Roberto Maggio (183-90) chipped in 16 points, 8 rebounds and 8 assists. Five Salerno players scored in double figures. Salerno's coach Orlando Menduto felt very confident that he used 10 players and allowed the starting five to rest. Guard Alessio Ronconi (192-95) produced 26 points and 8 rebounds and forward Luigi Dispinzeri (200-93) added 12 points respectively for lost side. Salerno keeps a position of B leader, which they share with Faenza. Loser Battipaglia still closes the standings with 13 games lost. Salerno will face IUL Tiber (#9) in Roma in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Battipaglia will play at home against Roma Luiss (#7) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
