Regular Season Round 25: Sichuan - Jiangsu 66-58

The game between third ranked Jiangsu Phoenix (19-6) and tenth ranked Blue Whales (12-13) was the most important one in the last round on Tuesday night. Jiangsu Phoenix was defeated by Blue Whales in a tough game in Chengdu 58-66. Blue Whales outrebounded Jiangsu Phoenix 39-27 including a 30-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. Worth to mention a great performance of Belarusian center Yelena Leuchanka (196-83, college: W.Virginia) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 23 points and 16 rebounds. Forward Yang Jia (191-87) contributed with 11 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Canadian Natalie Achonwa (190-92, college: Notre Dame) answered with 14 points and 7 rebounds and Jiayin Jiang (183-95) added 14 points in the effort for Jiangsu Phoenix. Blue Whales maintains tenth place with 12-13 record, which they share with Hebei. Jiangsu Phoenix at the other side keeps the third position with six games lost. They share it with Beijing and Xinjiang. Blue Whales is looking forward to face Red Wolves (#16) in Weinan in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Jiangsu Phoenix will play at home against Flame (#6) and is hoping to win this game.
