Regular Season Round 27: Nagoya DD - Shiga L-Stars 85-71

Date: December 26, 2018
Rather expected game when 6th ranked Shiga L-Stars (6-21) lost to third ranked Diamond Dolphins (16-11) in Nagoya 71-85 on Wednesday. Strangely Shiga L-Stars outrebounded Diamond Dolphins 37-21 including a 29-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. It was a good game for American Markeith Cummings (198-88, college: Kennesaw St.) who led his team to a victory with 25 points and 4 assists. International guard Shuto Ando (189-94) contributed with 21 points for the winners. Nigerian-American power forward Gani Lawal (206-88, college: Georgia Tech, agency: Octagon Europe) answered with a double-double by scoring 22 points, 13 rebounds and 4 assists and American-Israeli center DOr Fischer (211-81, college: W.Virginia) added 13 points and 15 rebounds in the effort for Shiga L-Stars. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Diamond Dolphins moved-up to second place, which they share with Kawasaki BT and Toyama Grouses. Shiga L-Stars lost eighth consecutive game. They keep the sixth position with 21 games lost. Diamond Dolphins will face league's leader Tochigi Brex at home in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Shiga L-Stars will play against Osaka Evessa (#4) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
