Regular Season Round 27: San-en - Kawasaki BT 64-82

Date: December 26, 2018
No shocking result in a game when third ranked Toshiba Thunders (16-11) beat 5th ranked San-en NeoPhoenix (9-18) in Hamamatsu 82-64 on Wednesday. Toshiba Thunders looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. It was a good game for international power forward Nick Fazekas (211-85, college: Nevada) who led his team to a victory with 20 points and 9 rebounds (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line). American power forward Vernon Macklin (208-86, college: Florida) contributed with a double-double by scoring 12 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. Five Toshiba Thunders players scored in double figures. American forward William McDonald (206-79, college: Grambling St.) answered with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 10 rebounds and point guard Shinnosuke Ohishi (174-87) added 11 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for San-en NeoPhoenix. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Toshiba Thunders have an impressive series of six victories in a row. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Nagoya DD and Toyama Grouses. Loser San-en NeoPhoenix keeps the fifth position with 18 games lost. Toshiba Thunders will face Aishin Sea Horses (#4) in Kariya in the next round. San-en NeoPhoenix will play on the road against Akita Happinets and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
