Regular Season Round 27: Niigata Albirex - Yokohama BC 97-68

B League top team - Niigata Albirex (17-10) had no problems winning another game on Wednesday. This time they crushed sixth ranked Yokohama BC (6-21) 97-68. They outrebounded Yokohama BC 36-23 including a 29-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. Niigata Albirex looked well-organized offensively handing out 31 assists. It was a good game for American power forward Lamont Hamilton (208-84, college: St.John's) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 10 rebounds. His fellow American import Davante Gardner (203-91, college: Marquette) contributed with 17 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners. Five Niigata Albirex players scored in double figures. Tanzanian center Hasheem Thabeet (218-87, college: Connecticut) answered with 24 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists and American power forward Alex Stepheson (208-87, college: USC) added 18 points in the effort for Yokohama BC. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Niigata Albirex maintains first place with 17-10 record. Loser Yokohama BC keeps the sixth position with 21 games lost. Niigata Albirex will face league's second-placed Toyama Grouses at home in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week.
