There was no surprise in Doha where Al Khor (0-4) was defeated by Al Arabi (2-1) 72-68 on Thursday. Al Arabi looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The best player for the winners was American swingman Dalan Ancrum (198-96, college: W.Illinois) who scored 23 points and 5 assists. His fellow American import swingman William Byrd (201-85, college: Ark.-Pine Bluff) chipped in 12 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was American point guard Ameer Jackson (193-94, college: Winston Salem) who recorded a double-double by scoring 19 points, 12 rebounds and 7 assists and international guard Moustafa Lashin (187-97) added 15 points and 4 assists respectively. Al Arabi's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Doha to the arena Al Sadd.
