Regular Season Round 15: Le Mans - Fos-Provence 108-84
Date: December 27, 2018
Rather expected game when 16th ranked Provence Basket (4-11) was smashed on the road by thirteenth ranked Le Mans (7-8) 108-84 on Thursday. Le Mans shot the lights out from three sinking 16 long-distance shots on high 57.1 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 32 assists comparing to just 18 passes made by Provence Basket's players. It was a good game for Belgian-Congolese point guard Jonathan Tabu (189-85) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 28 points and 11 assists. American point guard Michael Thompson (177-89, college: Northwestern) contributed with 18 points and 8 assists for the winners. Five Le Mans players scored in double figures. American Ronald Lewis (193-84, college: Ohio St., agency: Pensack Sports) answered with 21 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists and power forward Pierre Pelos (205-92) added 17 points in the effort for Provence Basket. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Defending champion moved-up to tenth place, which they share with 3 other teams. Newly promoted Provence Basket keeps the sixteenth position with 11 games lost. Le Mans will face higher ranked JL Bourg (#6) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Provence Basket will play against the league's second-placed Pau-Lacq-Orthez (#2) where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
