Regular Season Round 12: Denain - Quimper 78-88

We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams when 14th ranked Denain Voltaire (4-8) was defeated at home by fifteenth ranked Quimper UJAP (4-7) 88-78 on Thursday. Quimper UJAP made 18-of-22 free shots (81.8 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The best player for the winners was Austrian-American forward Bryce Douvier (201-91, college: Texas A&M-CC) who scored 21 points (went 9 for 9 at the free throw line !!!). Angolan center Valdelicio Joaquim (208-90, college: Hawaii, agency: Duran International) chipped in a double-double by scoring 13 points and 10 rebounds. Four Quimper UJAP players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was power forward Jerome Cazenobe (205-89) who recorded 15 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists and American-British point guard Akeem Williams (178-91, college: Mass.-Lowell, agency: HMS) added 17 points respectively. Denain Voltaire's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Quimper UJAP moved-up to fourteenth place. Denain Voltaire lost fifth consecutive game. They dropped to the fifteenth position with eight games lost. Quimper UJAP will face higher ranked JA Vichy (#5) on the road in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Denain Voltaire will play against C'Chartres (#18) and hope to win that game.
