Regular Season Round 18: Vilpas - Ura Basket 92-67

Korisliiga top team - Vilpas (16-3) had no problems winning another game on Friday. This time they crushed ninth ranked Ura Basket (6-12) in Salo 92-67. Vilpas dominated on the defensive end, holding Ura Basket to just 7 points in third quarter. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists comparing to just 10 passes made by Ura Basket's players. The best player for the winners was American forward Brandon Taylor (201-94, college: Penn St.) who scored 21 points and 7 rebounds. The other American import forward Antonio Ballard (194-88, college: Miami, OH) chipped in 15 points and 6 rebounds. Ballard is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Vilpas' coach Joonas Iisalo felt very confident that he used 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the other side the best for losing team was the former international point guard Fiifi Aidoo (187-96, college: Grand Canyon) who recorded a double-double by scoring 12 points and 10 rebounds and forward Eldar Skamo (198-86) added 14 points and 8 rebounds respectively. Vilpas have an impressive 14-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 16-3 record. Ura Basket lost third consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the ninth place with 12 games lost. Vilpas will again meet Ura Basket (#9) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Ura Basket will have a break next round.
