Regular Season Round 18: BC Nokia - Kataja 97-95

Sixth-ranked Joensuun Kataja (6-6) gave a tough game to fourth ranked BC Nokia (10-9). BC Nokia managed to secure only two-point victory 97-95. However their fans expected easier game. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Joensuun Kataja won third quarter 23-17. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when BC Nokia won last quarter 23-22. They made 22-of-27 charity shots (81.5 percent) during the game. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 28 assists. American forward Juan Davis (203-96, college: Troy) notched 21 points and 9 rebounds to lead the effort and Serbian power forward Dragan Labovic (207-87) supported him with 21 points and 8 rebounds. Even 30 points and 6 rebounds by international Topias Palmi (194-94, agency: Blacktop Management) did not help to save the game for Joensuun Kataja. International guard Ilari Seppala (188-93, agency: Blacktop Management) added 11 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists. Five BC Nokia and four Joensuun Kataja players scored in double figures. BC Nokia moved-up to third place. Joensuun Kataja at the other side dropped to the eighth position with six games lost. BC Nokia will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Joensuun Kataja will play at home against Helsinki Seagulls (#7) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
