Regular Season Round 18: Seagulls - KTP Basket 93-92

The most exciting game of round 18 in the Korisliiga took place in Helsinki. This derby game ended with only one-point defeat on the road of second-best KTP-Basket (11-7) to eighth ranked Helsinki Seagulls (7-8) 93-92 on Friday evening. It was quite big embarassment for the guest team. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of KTP-Basket. KTP-Basket trailed by 19 points at halftime and as many as 20 after three quarters before a 35-16 last quarter charge cut the deficit to 92-93 at the end of the game. Helsinki Seagulls looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. International Tuukka Kotti (205-81, college: Providence) scored 19 points and 8 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and American point guard Juwan Staten (185-92, college: W.Virginia) chipped in 16 points and 8 assists during the contest. Four Helsinki Seagulls players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was American forward Tyrell Nelson (201-95, college: Gardner-Webb, agency: Interperformances) with 24 points and 7 rebounds and his fellow American import forward Donte Thomas (200-96, college: Bradley) produced a double-double by scoring 16 points and 11 rebounds. KTP-Basket's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Helsinki Seagulls moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Kouvot. KTP-Basket at the other side keeps the second position with seven games lost. Helsinki Seagulls is looking forward to face Joensuun Kataja (#8) on the road in the next round. KTP-Basket will play against UU-Korihait (#11) and is hoping to win this game.
