There was no surprise in Seu D'urgell where 11th ranked Zamarat (3-9) was defeated by fourth ranked AE Sedis (9-3) 70-57. The game was mostly controlled by AE Sedis. Zamarat was better in third quarter 20-6. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Zamarat to just 7 points in fourth quarter. The winners were led by Jamaican forward Shereesha Richards (185-93, college: Albany) who scored that evening 13 points and 5 rebounds and American forward Merritt Hempe (190-94, college: Georgia) supported her with 11 points and 8 rebounds. AE Sedis' coach Bernat Canut allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Even 14 points and 7 rebounds by Mozambican forward Tamara Seda (193-94, college: UTEP) did not help to save the game for Zamarat. American guard Ameryst Alston (175-93, college: Ohio St.) added 9 points and 6 rebounds. AE Sedis have an impressive five-game winning streak. They moved-up to third place, which they share with Gernika. Zamarat at the other side keeps the eleventh position with nine games lost. They share it with Sant Adria. AE Sedis will play against Araski (#8) in Vitoria-Gasteiz in the next round where they are favorite. Zamarat will play at home against Socinsa Bembibre and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
