Very predictable result in S'Arenal where ninth ranked Palma (8-7) defeated 15th ranked Barca II (4-11) 83-76 on Saturday. It was a great evening for center Fran Guerra (214-92) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 12 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists. American forward Marcus Gilbert (198-93, college: Fairfield) helped adding 21 points (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). The best for the losing side was Sergi Martinez (203-99) with 21 points (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) and point guard Pol Figueras (187-98) scored 11 points and 8 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Barca II's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Palma moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Granada and Ourense. Barca II lost their seventh game in a row. They keep the fifteenth position with 11 games lost. Palma will face higher ranked Oviedo CB (#6) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Barca II will play against CB Prat (#18) and hope to win that game.
