Regular Season Round 19: Kauhajoki - Pyrinto 84-76

The game between closely ranked teams ended with 5th ranked Tampereen Pyrinto's (10-7) road loss to fourth ranked Kauhajoki (9-8) 76-84 on Saturday. The hosts trailed by 2 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 3-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 84-76. Kauhajoki dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Tampereen Pyrinto's 28. They outrebounded Tampereen Pyrinto 42-30 including a 33-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. Kauhajoki looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. It was a great evening for American swingman Rene Rougeau (198-86, college: UNLV, agency: Blacktop Management) who led his team to a victory scoring 20 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists. The former international forward Okko Jarvi (193-96, agency: Blacktop Management) helped adding 14 points and 5 assists. At the losing side American swingman Kenny Manigault (196-91, college: Pikeville) responded with 22 points and the other American import point guard Jaylon Tate (190-95, college: Illinois) scored 19 points. Despite that victory Kauhajoki went down to fifth position due to points difference. Loser Tampereen Pyrinto dropped to the third place with seven games lost. Kauhajoki will meet at home league's second-placed KTP-Basket in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Tampereen Pyrinto will play against UU-Korihait in Uusikaupunki and hope to secure a win.
