Not a big story in a game when 11th ranked GTK (4-8) lost to fifth ranked Anwil (9-3) in Gliwice 81-86 on Sunday. Anwil looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. The winners were led by Russian forward Valery Likhodey (205-86, agency: Alti Sport) who scored that evening 26 points (on 11-of-12 shooting from the field) and international swingman Michal Michalak (196-93) supported him with 9 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists. Even 19 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists by American guard Desmond Washington (188-92, college: St.Peter's) did not help to save the game for GTK. His fellow American import point guard Myles Mack (175-93, college: Rutgers) added 17 points and 8 assists. Four GTK players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Anwil have an impressive seven-game winning streak. Defending champion moved-up to third place, which they share with BM Slam Stal and Polski Cukier. Loser GTK keeps the eleventh position with eight games lost. They share it with Rosa. Anwil will meet at home Polpharma (#6) in the next round. GTK will play against Rosa (#12) in Radom and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
