Regular Season Round 21: Tokyo Cinq R. - Tokyo Big Blue 97-73

Bottom-ranked Tokyo Big Blue (0-14) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 97-73 loss to fourth ranked Tokyo Cinq R. (6-8) in Tokyo on Sunday evening. They dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to Tokyo Big Blue's 38. They outrebounded Tokyo Big Blue 61-40 including a 36-24 advantage in defensive rebounds. Tokyo Cinq R. looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists comparing to just 12 passes made by Tokyo Big Blue's players. American forward Chris Olivier (203-92, college: Oklahoma St.) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 24 points, 16 rebounds and 8 assists for the winners and Senegalese Bira Seck (204-90, college: Idaho, agency: Interperformances) chipped in 22 points, 16 rebounds and 4 assists. Four Tokyo Cinq R. players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was American guard Andre Murray (188-87, college: Portland St.) with 24 points and 7 rebounds and swingman Ryo Kuroki (192-93) scored 10 points and 4 assists. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Tokyo Cinq R. moved-up to third place, which they share with Gifu Swoops and Kagoshima. Tokyo Big Blue at the other side still closes the standings with 14 games lost. Tokyo Cinq R. will meet bottom-ranked Iwate Big Bulls (#10) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Tokyo Big Blue will play against Toyoda Gosei and hopes to get finally their first victory.
