Regular Season Round 27: Shanghai S. - Liaoning FL 120-126
Date: December 30, 2018
Not a big story in a game in Yingkou where 7th ranked Sharks (16-10) were defeated by second ranked Flying Leopards (22-4) 126-120. However just six-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Flying Leopards dominated down low during the game scoring 82 of its points in the paint compared to Sharks' 52. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. Flying Leopards brought some defensive toughness making 7 blocks. It was a good game for American Lester Hudson (190-84, college: Tenn-Martin) who led his team to a victory with 41 points (!!!) and 8 rebounds. The former international Ailun Guo (192-93) contributed with 25 points and 7 assists for the winners. American point guard Jimmer Fredette (188-89, college: BYU) answered with 36 points (!!!) and 6 assists and point guard Hanchen Luo (188-94) added 26 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists (on 10-of-11 shooting from the field) in the effort for Sharks. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the eleventh consecutive win for Flying Leopards. Defending champion maintains second place with 22-4 record behind leader Guangdong ST. Sharks at the other side keep the seventh position with ten games lost. Flying Leopards' next round opponent will be Beijing Ducks (#5) on the road. Sharks will play against Jilin Tigers in Changchun and hope to win that game.
