Regular Season Round 19: Kobrat - Kouvot 76-93

There was no surprise when 10th ranked Lapuan Korikobrat (5-13) was defeated at home by sixth ranked Kouvot (8-8) 93-76 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Kouvot. Lapuan Korikobrat managed to win fourth quarter 24-20. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Kouvot made 16-of-18 free shots (88.9 percent) during the game. It was a great evening for American Brian Asbury (201-86, college: Miami, FL) who led his team to a victory scoring 27 points and 7 rebounds (made all of his seven free throws). The former international point guard Tuomas Hirvonen (181-96) helped adding 20 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists. Four Kouvot players scored in double figures. Kouvot's coach Jyri Lehtonen allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. At the losing side American guard Khalil Small (188, college: Green Bay) responded with 35 points (!!!), 7 rebounds and 4 assists (made all of his eleven free throws !!!) and the other American import guard Larry Anderson (195-89, college: Long Beach St.) scored 3 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists. Kouvot have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain sixth place with 8-8 record. Lapuan Korikobrat lost seventh consecutive game. Loser Lapuan Korikobrat keeps the tenth position with 13 games lost. Kouvot will meet at home Joensuun Kataja (#7) in the next round. Lapuan Korikobrat will have a break next round.
