Regular Season Round 19: KTP Basket - Korihait 98-81

No shocking result in a game in Kotka where second ranked KTP-Basket (12-7) defeated bottom-ranked UU-Korihait (4-12) 98-81 on Sunday. The hosts trailed by 2 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 5-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 98-81. KTP-Basket looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. The game was dominated by American players. It was a great evening for forward Tyrell Nelson (201-95, college: Gardner-Webb, agency: Interperformances) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 24 points and 11 rebounds (made all of his ten free throws !!!). Power forward Kevin Langford (203-85, college: TCU) helped adding 22 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists. KTP-Basket's coach Tomi Kaminen used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the losing side forward Stephon Jelks (198-96, college: Mercer) responded with a double-double by scoring 10 points and 15 rebounds and swingman Chris Jenkins (201-94, college: Detroit Mercy) scored 18 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Four KTP-Basket and five UU-Korihait players scored in double figures. KTP-Basket maintains second place with 12-7 record having six points less than leader Vilpas. UU-Korihait lost sixth consecutive game. They stay at the bottom position with 12 games lost. KTP-Basket will meet Kauhajoki (#5) on the road in the next round. UU-Korihait will play against Tampereen Pyrinto (#3) and hope to secure a win.
