Regular Season Round 13: Ensino - Al-Qazeres 94-76

There was a small surprise in Lugo where ninth ranked Maquinaria Ensino (5-8) defeated 7th ranked Al-Qazeres (6-7) 94-76 on Sunday. They outrebounded Al-Qazeres 42-25 including 29 on the defensive glass. Maquinaria Ensino looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. Point guard Angela Salvadores (178-97, college: Duke, agency: ProDep Management) stepped up and scored 23 points, 6 rebounds, 9 assists and 5 steals for the winners and Nigerian-American forward Atonye Nyingifa (180-90, college: UCLA) chipped in 12 points and 11 rebounds. At the losing side Italian-Paraguayan swingman Paola Ferrari (178-85, college: Union, TN, agency: ProDep Management) responded with 24 points and 6 assists and Paraguayan guard Gabriela Ocete (170-88, agency: ProDep Management) scored 18 points and 8 assists. Five Maquinaria Ensino and four Al-Qazeres players scored in double figures. Maquinaria Ensino moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Araski. Loser Al-Qazeres keeps the seventh position with seven games lost. Maquinaria Ensino will meet at home higher ranked AE Sedis (#4) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Al-Qazeres will play against Universitario de Ferrol and hope to secure a win.
