There was no surprise in Taiyuan where 16th ranked Red Wolves (5-22) were defeated by seventh ranked Flame (17-10) 82-64 on Monday. Flame dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Red Wolves' 26. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. The best player for the winners was point guard Tongtong Wu (176) who had a triple-double by scoring 14 points, 10 rebounds and 12 assists. Zixuan Guo (187-97) chipped in 17 points and 9 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). At the other side the best for losing team was American forward Theresa Plaisance (196-92, college: LSU, agency: ProDep Management) who recorded a double-double by scoring 21 points and 15 rebounds and forward Yue Pei (179) added 19 points and 6 rebounds respectively. Both coaches used bench players saving starting five for next games. Flame moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Henan and Shandong. Loser Red Wolves keep the sixteenth position with 22 games lost. Flame will face higher ranked Magic Deer (#3) in Urumqi in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Red Wolves will play on the road against Beijing Great Wall (#4) and hope to win that game.
