Very expected game when 11th ranked Ironi Nahariya (3-8) lost on the road to fourth ranked Hapoel Holon (9-4) 78-72 on Wednesday. However just six-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. The hosts trailed by 2 points after three quarters before their 22-14 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Hapoel Holon made 18-of-22 free shots (81.8 percent) during the game. The winners were led by American guard Corey Walden (188-92, college: E.Kentucky) who scored that evening 21 points, 5 assists and 4 steals and the other American import forward Darion Atkins (203-92, college: Virginia) supported him with 12 points and 11 rebounds. Four Hapoel Holon players scored in double figures. Even a double-double of 23 points, 10 rebounds, 7 assists and 5 steals by international Iftah Ziv (191-95) did not help to save the game for Ironi Nahariya. American center Nana Foulland (206-95, college: Bucknell) added 11 points and 11 rebounds. Hapoel Holon have an impressive six-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place. Ironi Nahariya lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the eleventh position with eight games lost. Hapoel Holon will meet at home Maccabi Ashdod (#10) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Ironi Nahariya will play against Bnei Hasharon in Hod Hasharon and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
