Regular Season Round 12: Galil Gilboa - Beer Sheva 68-82

Date: January 2, 2019
There was a small surprise when seventh ranked Beer Sheva (6-6) beat 5th ranked Galil Gilboa (6-6) in Rosh Pina 82-68 on Wednesday. Beer Sheva outrebounded Galil Gilboa 46-24 including a 17-2 advantage in offensive rebounds. The winners were led by naturalized Danish guard Chanan Colman (190-84, college: Chipola JC) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 20 points and 10 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) and American forward Jordan Swing (198-90, college: UAB, agency: Two Points) supported him with 19 points and 10 rebounds. Four Beer Sheva players scored in double figures. Even 28 points by American forward Greg Whittington (203-93, college: Rutgers) did not help to save the game for Galil Gilboa. His fellow American import guard Ian Miller (190-91, college: Florida St.) added 13 points and 4 assists. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Beer Sheva moved-up to fifth place, which they share with defeated Galil Gilboa. Beer Sheva will meet bottom-ranked Hapoel Tel-Aviv (#12) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Galil Gilboa will play against Ironi Nes-Ziona (#7) in Nes Ziyona and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
