Regular Season Round 8: Akademik PL - Blokotehna 82-77

Undefeated FYR Macedonian Blokotehna (4-1) recorded its first loss on the court of third ranked Bulgarian Academik Plovdiv. Visitors were defeated by Academik Plovdiv 82-77. Academik Plovdiv dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Blokotehna's 24. Blokotehna was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. The winners were led by American guard Daishon Knight (185-91, college: Illinois St., agency: Mansfield and Associates) who scored that evening 27 points and Vasil Bachev (195-92, college: Cuesta JC) supported him with 15 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Even 41 points (!!!) and 9 rebounds by Serbian power forward Danilo Mijatovic (206-83) did not help to save the game for Blokotehna. Lithuanian center Povilas Gaidys (208-91, college: Southeastern) added 8 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists for the guests. Academik Plovdiv (5-3) moved-up to second place. Blokotehna at the other side dropped to the third position with one game lost. They share it with Beroe. Academik Plovdiv will play against Bashkimi (#6) in Prizren in the next round. Blokotehna will play on the road against Beroe in Stara Zagora and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
