The game between second ranked Real Madrid II (11-3) and twelfth ranked Lanzarote (6-8) was the most important one in the last round on Friday night. Real Madrid II was defeated by Lanzarote in a tough game in Arrecife 83-89. The hosts were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. The best player for the winners was guard Acoydan McCarthy (197-99, college: Austin Peay St.) who scored 22 points and 5 rebounds (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field). American guard Victor Bermudez (193-92, college: Texas St.) chipped in 23 points. Bermudez is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four Lanzarote players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was Senegalese center Amar Sylla (206-1) who recorded 20 points and 6 rebounds and Serbian forward Mario Nakic (201-1) added 12 points and 6 rebounds respectively. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Lanzarote have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to tenth place, which they share with Pozuelo. Real Madrid II at the other side keeps the second position with three games lost. Lanzarote is looking forward to face higher ranked CB Guadalajara (#5) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Real Madrid II will play against Tenerife Naut. and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
