Regular Season Round 29: Bayi R. - Fujian S. 87-117

Very predictable result when seventh ranked Sturgeons (17-11) rolled over bottom-ranked Bayi Rockets (6-22) in Ningbo 117-87 on Friday. Sturgeons dominated down low during the game scoring 76 of its points in the paint compared to Bayi Rockets' 56 and made 26-of-29 free shots (89.7 percent) during the game. Bayi Rockets were plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. International Zhelin Wang (214-94) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 34 points (!!!) and 13 rebounds. American-Ukrainian point guard Eugene Jeter (180-83, college: Portland) contributed with a double-double by scoring 18 points, 6 rebounds and 12 assists for the winners. International guard Lei Meng (193-95) answered with 18 points and 5 rebounds and the former international center ZhongHao Xu (212-90) added 15 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Bayi Rockets. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. The victory was the third consecutive win for Sturgeons. They maintain seventh place with 17-11 record. Loser Bayi Rockets stay dead last with 22 lost games. Sturgeons will face Golden Stars (#13) in Jinan in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. Bayi Rockets will play on the road against Eagles (#16) in Qingdao and hope to win that game.
