Regular Season Round 6: Al Sadd - Al Wakrah 71-74

The most surprising game was the first loss of Al Sadd (5-1) in Doha on Saturday night. Hosts were edged by fifth ranked Al Wakrah (4-2) 74-71. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Al Sadd. They outrebounded Al Sadd 52-40 including 43 on the defensive glass. The former international center Mame Souleye (206-87) had a double-double by scoring 17 points and 17 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and American power forward Joshua Caldwell (203-91, college: William Penn, agency: SDJ Sports) chipped in 29 points during the contest. Caldwell is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. The best for the losing side was Bosnian-Serbian power forward Miroslav Todic (205-85) with a double-double by scoring 20 points, 13 rebounds and 5 assists and forward Babacar Dieng (198-97) produced a double-double by scoring 20 points, 11 rebounds, 4 assists and 5 steals. Four Al Sadd players scored in double figures. Al Wakrah moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Al Arabi. Al Sadd at the other side still keeps top position with one game lost. They share it with Al Shamal. Al Wakrah is looking forward to face Al Gharafa (#7) in Doha in the next round. Al Sadd's supporters also look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Doha to the arena Al Ahli.
