Regular Season Round 8: Young Angels - Olimpia 67-78

There was a small surprise when tenth ranked Belarusian Olimpia (3-3) won against 7th ranked Slovakian Young Angels (3-3) in Kosice 78-67 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Olimpia. Young Angels managed to win second period 18-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Olimpia dominated down low during the game scoring 46 of its points in the paint compared to Young Angels' 22. Olimpia forced 20 Young Angels turnovers and outrebounded them 51-40 including 17 on the offensive glass. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Olimpia made 7 blocks. The winners were led by forward Natallia Dashkevich (188-88) who scored that evening 28 points and 7 rebounds and forward Nadzeya Nadzezhka (180-87) supported her with 6 points and 12 rebounds. Even 17 points and 8 rebounds by center Denisa Blanarova (186-97) did not help to save the game for Young Angels. American guard Samantha Logic (175-92, college: Iowa, agency: LBM Management) added 16 points for the hosts. Young Angels' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Olimpia moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Young Angels and Piestanske C. Olimpia will meet at home bottom-ranked PINKK-Pecsi (#16) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Young Angels will have a break next round.
