Regular Season Round 13: Samorin - Piestanske C. 43-69

The game between Top Four teams took place in Samorin. 4th placed host Samorin (7-6) was smashed by third ranked Piestanske C. (9-4) 69-43. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Samorin. Piestanske C. dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to Samorin's 26. They outrebounded Samorin 44-31 including 33 on the defensive glass. American point guard Janee Thompson (170-93, college: Kentucky) stepped up and scored 18 points and 8 rebounds for the winners and the former international center Rebeka Mikulasikova (191-99) chipped in 8 points and 12 rebounds. Piestanske C.'s coach Richard Kucsa felt very confident using 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the losing side the former international power forward Romana Vynuchalova (192-86, college: Penn St.) responded with a double-double by scoring 12 points, 17 rebounds and 5 blocks and the former international guard Timea Sujova (173-84) scored 9 points. Piestanske C. have an impressive series of eight victories in a row. They maintain third place with 9-4 record having four points less than leader MBK Ruzomb. Samorin at the other side keeps the fourth position with six games lost. Piestanske C. are looking forward to face bottom-ranked Banska Bystrica (#8) at home in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. Samorin will play against the league's second-placed Young Angels (#2) in Kosice and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
