There was no surprise when 13th ranked San Martino (4-10) was defeated on the road by third ranked Costa Masnaga (12-2) 56-51 on Saturday. However just five-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Costa Masnaga forced 24 San Martino turnovers. Power forward Giulia Rulli (184-91, agency: SPORTlab Agency) scored 16 points and 9 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and guard Valentina Baldelli (169-89) chipped in 19 points and 6 rebounds during the contest. Swingman Anna Profaiser (177-0) responded with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 10 rebounds and center Beatrice Baldi (185-0) scored 9 points and 12 rebounds. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Costa Masnaga moved-up to second place in A2. Loser San Martino keeps the thirteenth position with ten games lost. Costa Masnaga will face Scrivia (#4) on the road in the next round. San Martino will play against Ponzano (#12) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
