Not a big story in a game when 10th ranked Blue Whales (13-16) were outscored by second ranked Bayi Kylin (26-3) in Chengdu 92-66. Bayi Kylin dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to Blue Whales' 28. They outrebounded Blue Whales 42-27 including 33 on the defensive glass. Guard Qiujiao Jia (175-90) stepped up and scored 25 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) for the winners and international Mengran Sun (197-92) chipped in 23 points and 10 rebounds. Four Bayi Kylin players scored in double figures. Belarusian center Yelena Leuchanka (196-83, college: W.Virginia) responded with a double-double by scoring 24 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists and forward Xuetong Zhao (185-94) scored 22 points and 4 assists. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Bayi Kylin maintains second place with 26-3 record behind leader Guangdong. Blue Whales lost their third game in a row. They keep the tenth position with 16 games lost. Bayi Kylin will play against Flame (#8) in Taiyuan in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. Blue Whales will play on the road against Fujian Nanan in Putian and hope to get back on the winning track.
