Regular Season Round 8: Shockers - Giants 65-95
Date: January 5, 2019
Another interesting game was again a derby between two local teams from Nassau: Giants (#3) and Shockers (#5). Shockers were smashed at home by 30 points 65-95 and even the advantage of their own court did not help. Giants made 18-of-22 free shots (81.8 percent) during the game. Giants outrebounded Shockers 54-40 including 16 on the offensive glass. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international Michael Bain (185-85) who helped to win the game recording 20 points and 9 rebounds and the former international guard DShon Taylor (196-93, college: Norfolk St.) who added 16 points and 9 rebounds during the contest. The former international point guard Shakwon Lewis (178-96) responded with a double-double by scoring 11 points, 6 rebounds and 10 assists and point guard Lenny Oscar scored 12 points. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Defending champion (6-0) moved-up to second place. Loser Shockers keep the fifth position with five games lost. They share it with Regulators. Giants will meet Defenders (#8) in the next round where they are favorite. Shockers' supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Nassau Stingers.
