Regular Season Round 12: Haukar - Valur 92-102

We could consider it a predictable result in the game between close teams in Hafnarfjordur where tenth ranked Valur (4-8) defeated 9th ranked Haukar (4-8) 102-92. The game was mostly controlled by Valur. Haukar was better in third quarter 27-20. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They made 27-of-34 charity shots (79.4 percent) during the game, while Haukar only scored eleven points from the stripe. It was a good game for American point guard Kendall Anthony (173-93, college: Richmond) who led his team to a victory with 38 points (!!!) and 7 assists. Forward Illugi Audunsson (198-92) contributed with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. International forward Hjalmar Stefansson (196-96) replied with a double-double by scoring 14 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists and American Russell Woods (203-94, college: Missouri) added 20 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Haukar. Five Valur and four Haukar players scored in double figures. Valur moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Haukar and IR. Valur's next round opponent will be league's second-placed Tindastoll in Sauoarkrokur and they do not belong to the favorites in that game.
