We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams in Tampico where 6th ranked Libertadores (9-16) were defeated by seventh ranked Huracanes (4-22) 96-86 on Sunday. Huracanes made 18-of-22 free shots (81.8 percent) during the game. It was a great evening for naturalized American guard Martin Samarco (190-85, college: Bowling Green) who led his team to a victory scoring 26 points. American point guard Jeffery Stubbs (189-91, college: Jackson St.) helped adding 21 points (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line). The best for the losing side was American power forward Gerard DeVaughn (206-88, college: Stillman) with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 14 rebounds and the other American import forward Reggie Larry (198-86, college: Boise St., agency: Pro Sports) scored 14 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Newly promoted Huracanes maintains seventh place with 4-22 record. Loser Libertadores keep the sixth position with 16 games lost. Huracanes will face Angeles (#7) in Puebla in the next round.
