The game in Gifu was also quite interesting. Third ranked Aisin AW (12-4) played at the court of 7th ranked Gifu Swoops (6-10). Aisin AW defeated Gifu Swoops 82-68 on Sunday. It was an exceptional evening for American forward Kevin Kotzur (203-89, college: St.Mary's, TX) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 12 points, 16 rebounds, 7 assists and 4 steals. Point guard Takumi Watanabe (181-89) accounted for 18 points and 5 rebounds for the winning side. Five Aisin AW players scored in double figures. Canadian center Michael Allison (206-90, college: Maine) came up with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 15 rebounds and American Bingo Merriex (206-80, college: TCU) added 14 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for Gifu Swoops in the defeat. Gifu Swoops' coach Kazuo Kusumoto rotated eleven players and allowed the starting five to rest. The victory was the eighth consecutive win for Aisin AW. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Koshigaya A. and Toyoda Gosei. Gifu Swoops lost their third game in a row. Newly promoted team keep the seventh position with ten games lost. They share it with Kagoshima. Aisin AW will meet at home league's second-placed Koshigaya A. in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Gifu Swoops will play against Tokyo Cinq R. (#5) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
