An interesting game took place in Jinjiang where higher ranked Sturgeons (17-12) were upset on its own court by thirteenth ranked Golden Stars (13-16) 117-89 on Sunday. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Sturgeons. Golden Stars dominated down low during the game scoring 68 of its points in the paint compared to Sturgeons' 32. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. The best player for the winners was American forward JaKarr Sampson (206-93, college: St.John's) who had a double-double by scoring 26 points and 15 rebounds. The other American import point guard Ty Lawson (180-87, college: N.Carolina) chipped in 23 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Five Golden Stars players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was American-Ukrainian point guard Eugene Jeter (180-83, college: Portland) who recorded 29 points and 7 assists and international Zhelin Wang (214-94) added 15 points and 8 rebounds respectively. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Golden Stars moved-up to eleventh place. Loser Sturgeons keep the seventh position with 12 games lost. They share it with Guangzhou LL. Golden Stars will meet at home Blue Whales (#18) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Sturgeons will play against Golden Bulls (#12) in Hangzhou and hope to secure a win.
