Regular Season Round 12: Bahrain - Muharraq 59-86

Date: January 7, 2019
Very expected game in Manama where 9th ranked Al-Bahrain (3-7) was crushed by second ranked Al-Muharraq (10-1) 86-59. Al-Muharraq players were unselfish on offense dishing 28 assists comparing to just 13 passes made by Al-Bahrain's players. It was a good game for the former international center Chester Giles (211-85, college: Oregon St.) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 14 rebounds. Ahmed Aldurazi contributed with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 11 assists for the winners. Five Al-Muharraq players scored in double figures. American forward Lester Ferguson (208-88, college: Robert Morris) replied with a double-double by scoring 27 points and 11 rebounds and Fadhel Abbas added 6 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Al-Bahrain. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Al-Muharraq maintains second position with 10-1 record having just one point less than leader Al-Manama. Al-Bahrain lost third consecutive game. They keep the ninth place with seven games lost. Al-Muharraq will have a break next round. Al-Bahrain's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Manama to the arena Al-Ittihad.
