The most exciting game of round 17 in the LUB took place in Montevideo. This derby game ended with only one-point home defeat of 3rd placed Defensor (10-5) to fifth ranked Urunday Univ. (11-5) 100-99 in the game for the fourth place. Strangely Defensor outrebounded Urunday Univ. 42-30 including a 31-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. 24 personal fouls committed by Defensor helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was Emilio Taboada (191-82, agency: Pro Sports) who scored 21 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. Point guard Facundo Medina (190-94) chipped in 26 points. American center Anthony-Laveal Johnson (203-88, college: Fairfield) produced a double-double by scoring 22 points and 13 rebounds and the other American import forward Patrick Sanders (201-85, college: Cal-Irvine) added 21 points (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line) respectively for the hosts. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Urunday Univ. have a solid series of four victories in a row. They moved-up to fourth place. Defensor at the other side dropped to the fifth position with five games lost. Urunday Univ.'s supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Montevideo to the arena Atenas.
