Regular Season Round 7: Al Ahli - Al Sadd 79-85

Another exciting game was a derby match between two local teams from Doha: Al Sadd (#1) and Al Ahli (#6). Al Ahli was defeated at home 79-85 and even the advantage of their own court did not help. Al Sadd made 16-of-20 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game. It was a great evening for Bosnian-Serbian power forward Miroslav Todic (205-85) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 30 points, 14 rebounds and 4 assists. American point guard Dominic James (180-86, college: Marquette) helped adding 19 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists. At the losing side American Julius Coles (193-89, college: Canisius) responded with a double-double by scoring 21 points, 7 rebounds and 10 assists and the other American import power forward Kenny Hall (206-90, college: Tennessee) produced a double-double by scoring 16 points and 14 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Al Sadd maintains first place with 6-1 record, which they share with Al Shamal. Al Ahli lost their third game in a row. They dropped to the seventh position with five games lost. Al Sadd will meet at home Al Khor (#8) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Al Ahli's supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Doha to the arena Al Gharafa.
