Regular Season Round 29: Angeles - Huracanes 96-93

Seventh-ranked Huracanes (5-23) were very close to win a game against seventh ranked Angeles (9-19) in Puebla. Angeles managed to secure only three-point victory 96-93. However their fans expected easier game. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Huracanes. Angeles made 16-of-20 charity shots (80.0 percent) during the game. Angeles had a 34-23 advantage in offensive rebounds. American power forward Bryan Davis (206-86, college: Texas A&M) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 30 points and 13 rebounds (on 13-of-17 shooting from the field) for the winners and his fellow American import guard Tomas Sanchez (190-91, college: Idaho St.) chipped in 21 points and 8 assists (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line). Four Angeles players scored in double figures. Swingman Manuel Hernandez (193-91) responded with 35 points (!!!) and U.S. Virgin Islands-American forward Jamaal Samuel (206-93, college: La-Monroe) scored 23 points and 5 rebounds. Newly promoted Angeles maintains seventh place with 9-19 record which they share with defeated Huracanes. Huracanes at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keep the seventh position with 23 games lost. Angeles will play against league's leader Capitanes in Mexico in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Huracanes will have a break next round.
